Your duties and responsibilities:
General responsibilities and general duties:
Responsible for establishing and running the Project Management department with the objective of ensuring all projects are delivered according to the Product Lifecycle Management process and are delivered within the agreed scope, time, cost and quality.
This role will be threefold, firstly overseeing the portfolio of active projects (including product sustaining), providing expert knowledge and support and monitoring progress and reporting on the portfolio status. Secondly managing projects/programmes directly. Finally, the development, introduction and continuous improvement of the organisation’s PLM process.
The role is expected to provide strong leadership in a matrix environment to promote best practices in managing interrelated projects and programmes to ensure successful delivery. This role will also ensure project resources have the correct toolsets and processes in place and that all relevant staff are trained and equipped to deliver successfully.
Strong project or programme management and excellent organisational skills are fundamental, as is the ability to liaise with people at all levels of the organisation.


Functional responsibility for Project Management in Research and Development including integration of purchasing and manufacturing for pre-series production within ASM AS at sites Munich (DE), Weymouth (UK), Singapore (SG) and Malaysia (MY) as well as external business partners based on the following business orders:
1. Definition of project setup, determination of competencies, estimation of efforts and timeline based on technical concepts for new projects in preparation of board decision meetings (MEM)
2. Planning and execution of new development projects starting when a decision for implementation is taken by the decision board till introduction to series production regarding quality, cost and timeline
3. Sustaining of launched products regarding field defects, obsolete supplier parts, cost down and manufacturing measures
4. Elimination of customer escalations by decision of Vice President R&D of ASM AS PRS
5. Multi project management of orders (1), (2), (3) and (4) including synchronization as well as planning and controlling of project-based budget targets
6. Definition and implementation of standards regarding project management and its further development regarding skills, roles, processes, forms, tools and organization
7. Reporting of all projects to Vice President R&D of ASM AS PRS and to Management Board of ASM AS
8. Functional responsibility of subordinated assigned managers and subordinated assigned project managers
9. Personnel responsibility for directly subordinated group managers as well as directly subordinated employees
10. R&D project roadmap planning and product versioning planning for hardware and software including overall resource planning
11. Support planning of R&D budget and break down to projects esp. for 3rd-party cost (others, external services, material) according to defined budget premises


  • Proactively engage with Directors and Senior Managers to identify opportunities for business improvements
  • Manage the day-to-day activities in the Project Management department
  • Manage the PM team and provide performance feedback and goal-setting; conducts annual performance assessments and skill development and training
  • Manage the administration for project submissions and approvals through the agreed prioritisation and approval process, maintaining a pipeline of approved projects
  • Ensures a clear and consistent approach is in place to manage risk with alignment to the Finance & Business risk registers and the Corporate risk register
  • Collate qualitative and quantitative information on project performance for the preparation and production of project reports for internal management purposes
  • Work closely with Business Services teams (as well as internal and external project partners where appropriate) to devise, develop and deliver appropriate and proportionate systems to evaluate key activities at a project level
  • Provide advice and support to project partners on how project evidence and information has to be presented and reported
  • Ensure that information recorded in both electronic and hard copy meets with internal and external audit standards


Project Delivery
  • Ensure detailed project, implementation or actions plans are created for the duration of each project as appropriate
  • Ensure projects have requirements documented and agreed to ensure that project meets agreed project objectives
    • Ensure monitoring of progress against all projects is timely and accurate and enables Sponsors and stakeholders have visibility and sufficient information to make the required decisions
    • Run or attend (as appropriate) Project Boards or Steering Groups
    • Ensure risks, issues and dependencies are being recorded, monitored and proactively managed to minimise disruption to successful delivery
    • Participate in project reviews, approvals, and gating processes
    • Ensure the appropriate and relevant level of testing is in place for all projects e.g. module, integration, system and field test with stakeholder sign-off as part of the gating process
    • Produce agreed levels of portfolio reporting on all projects being delivered or within the oversight of the Project Management Group
    • Deliver an effective and timely schedule of project communications liaising with the relevant sponsors and stakeholders

Responsibility for department ‘Project Management’

  • Planning and controlling of all department related cost categories according to defined targets
  • Definition of functional descriptions and searching for candidates in cooperation with HR
  • Proposal for hiring candidates to VP R&D Printing Products
Your profile:
Requirements
  • Significant experience at a senior level in a PM Function
  • Recognised formal project management qualification (PMP/APMP/Prince2/P30 or equivalent) is desirable
  • Degree qualified is desirable (minimum Bachelor degree)
  • Developed project/programme management and planning skills and experience
  • Ability to manage a range of projects types and complex business initiatives and change programmes
  • Ability to and experience of providing input to organisational business and budget planning
  • Good understanding of performance management frameworks and tools in the delivery of business objectives
  • Team management experience with the ability to manage and motivate virtual or matrix project teams as well as the Project Management Group (PMG)
  • Experience of being a Business Partner and managing those relationships
  • Experience of prioritisation matrices and working with the business to determine appropriate project prioritisation
  • Ability to juggle different projects/priorities and deliver high quality outcomes under pressure
  • Capability to provide timely, accurate and relevant project and portfolio reporting as agreed
  • Experience of resource planning against the prioritised portfolio of projects and ability to work with the PMG and business to manage project
  • Open-minded and ‘can-do’ attitude which encourages innovation, embraces change and displays resilience against adversity
